Lexington City Council approved the city’s fiscal
2014 budget on Thursday.
Council raised the real estate tax
rate by 5 cents compared to fiscal 2013.
Council approved up to $65,000 in funds for the Lexington School Board to begin
design of a new Waddell Elementary School. Council also directed the School Board to seek more information on the idea of consolidating the schools with other nearby school divisions.
Council also
agreed to hold a work session May 16 to discuss the search for a new city manager
to replace the retiring Jon Ellestad in 2014.
