River flood warnings remain in effect for several areas, including
Alleghany County and the James River in Amherst County and Botetourt County.
Officials with
the National Weather Service say many areas have received two to three inches
of rainfall over the past few days while some areas east and northeast of Roanoke
got more than five inches of rain.
Although
rainfall diminished Tuesday night, excessive runoff will continue to be a
problem for creeks and streams in the region, with minor flooding a concern for
low-lying areas.
Motorists are
urged to drive with caution if they have to travel near creeks, streams and
low-lying flood-prone areas.
