One
of Virginia’s two U. S. Senators, Democrat Tim
Kaine, will deliver this year’s commencement address during the 2013 graduation
exercises at the Washington and Lee Law School on Saturday, May 11, at 11:00
a.m. on the lawn between the Colonnade and Lee Chapel. The event is open to the
public.
Kaine was elected to the United
States Senate in 2012. He began his political life in 1994, running for
Richmond City Council, serving as a Councilman and Mayor. In 2001, Senator
Kaine was elected Lieutenant Governor of Virginia, working for four years with
then-Governor, now Senator, Mark Warner. In 2005, Senator Kaine was elected Virginia's
70th Governor.
