There’s an election Tuesday in Bedford to fill town
council seats, once Bedford reverts to town status in July.
There are seven candidates for seven town council
seats, including six of the current Bedford city council members.
The top four in Tuesday’s election won’t face re-election until 2016; the other
three winners will need to run for re-election in 2014.Meanwhile, voters in the 19th House District on Tuesday will select a Republican to advance to the November general election to replace the retiring Delegate Lacey Putney.
Most of the 19th District covers Alleghany County and Botetourt County. Only half of Bedford County is in the district so there will be just one polling place open Tuesday in Bedford County, the Thaxton Community Center.
