Budget Work in Bedford County and Appomattox County

The Bedford County Supervisors on Monday adopted the county’s fiscal 2014 budget.
The budget grants employees a 3% pay raise, essentially their first pay raise in 5 years. It also gives Bedford County Schools $38 million in education funding, leaving the school division with nearly a $3 million deficit.
Meanwhile, the Appomattox County Supervisors hope to adopt their fiscal 2014 budget on May 6. The proposed $36.4 million budget contains no tax increases.
Under the budget, Appomattox County Schools would receive the same amount in local funds as Fiscal 2013. The budget includes a 3% pay raise for county employees and constitutional officers.
