Republican legislative leaders are talking about seeking more
funding during the 2013 General Assembly session to place additional safety
officers in Virginia elementary schools.
House Speaker William Howell of Stafford County and other GOP leaders plan to introduce a budget amendment during the 2013 General Assembly session, in response to the mass shooting at an elementary school last Friday in Connecticut.
Howell said expanding the school resource officer program is a critical step to make sure all of Virginia’s schools are as safe as possible.
