The Virginia State Police plan to be out in force to crack
down on drunken driving during the holidays.

State Police Superintendent, says the Virginia State Police will be participating
in sobriety checkpoints and roving enforcement patrols as part of the DUI
enforcement campaign, Checkpoint Strikeforce.
Last year, 245 people died and 5,465
were injured in alcohol-related crashes in Virginia. Seven were killed during
the three-day Christmas holiday, according to the Virginia Highway Safety
Office.
The Virginia State Police encourage
those attending holiday parties to:
Plan ahead. Designate a sober
driver, call a friend or family member, get a cab or use public transportation;n
If you know someone has been drinking, don’t
let them drive. Arrange for a safe way home.
