Virginia is granting people whose licenses or permits
expire Oct. 31 some extra time to renew them without penalty because of this
week's storm.
Gov. Bob McDonnell is also giving people and businesses
harmed by the late-season hurricane a waiver on penalties or interest from late
October state tax returns.
Virginia motorists who need a new driver's license or
registration before November now have until Nov. 9 to visit the Department of
Motor Vehicles for a renewal.
To qualify for the tax penalty and interest waiver,
taxpayers must show they couldn't file their taxes on time because the storm
made their financial records inaccessible.
