In the Virginia Senate race, those surveyed favored Democrat Tim Kaine over Republican George Allen 51–44.
Forty-five percent of those polled in Virginia said they thought the United States was worse off compared with four years ago with 35 percent saying it was better off. Twenty-nine percent said their family was worse off while 27 percent said better off.
