Former Franklin County Sheriff Ewell Hunt was found guilty Tuesday of misconduct
in office, for his handling of the warnings he received before the Memorial Day
2011 shooting rampage believed to have been carried out by one of Hunt's former
deputies, Jonathan Agee.
Agee allegedly fatally shot his ex-wife Jennifer and wounded
a Virginia State Police officer before being apprehended.
Retired General District Court Judge John Quigley found Hunt guilty of the
misdemeanor offense. Hunt was fined $500 and received a 30-day suspended jail
sentence.
