The motorcyclist who died Monday in a fatal accident on
Timberlake Road has been identified as 53-year-old Cecil Arthur of Madison
Heights.
Arthur was heading west on Timberlake Road Monday night when
a car heading in the opposite direction tried to make a turn onto Powtan Drive.
The motorcyclist struck the car in the passenger side and was thrown from the
motorcycle. Arthur was then hit by a gray minivan. The minivan’s driver fled
the scene.
Investigators say Arthur, who was wearing a helmet, later
died at Lynchburg General Hospital.
