A structure fire Friday morning in Rockbridge County
resulted in severe damage to a house on Siding Lane, off South River Road.
A Virginia State Police trooper safely evacuated an occupant
who was inside the home when the fire broke out.
Firefighters got the call for the fire around 8:30 Friday
morning. Within a half an hour, firefighters had to temporarily evacuate the
structure as the roof began to collapse.
No word yet on the damage figure from the fire.
