Virginia Tech officials now say ballistics testing linked Thursday’s fatal shootings, which resulted in the death of Virginia Tech police officer Deriek Crouse.
Testing confirmed that Crouse and an unidentified man found nearby were fatally shot by the same weapon. The gunman was not a Virginia Tech student according to investigators, who say they believe the gunman acted alone and killed himself with his handgun when another officer spotted him.Crouse was shot inside his vehicle.
The State Police say investigators have not found anything connecting the gunman and the slain officer.
