11 People in SUV Tuesday



The Virginia State Police say 11 Washington and Lee University students were in a SUV that wrecked early Tuesday. The accident claimed the life of Washington and Lee senior, 21-year-old Kelsey Durkin.
The driver of the vehicle, 21-year-old Nicholas Hansel, was charged with driving under the influence in the crash. He was bonded out of the Rockbridge Regional Jail on Wednesday.
The crash occurred on Turkey Hill Road in Rockbridge County, about seven miles from the W & L campus.
Three students injured in the wreck remain hospitalized at the University of Virginia Medical Center and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
