Accident Investigation in Bath County



The investigation continues into Friday’s crash in Bath County that involved a state trooper and Bath County firefighters.
The trooper’s cruiser collided with the fire truck Friday around 8:30 p.m. on U.S. 220 in Warm Springs near Route 39.
The trooper, G.W. Johnson Jr. was in the process of assisting the Bath County Sheriff’s Office with a domestic call when his vehicle collided with a pumper truck pulling onto U.S. 220 from a side road.
Johnson was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was released on Saturday.
At last report, the driver of the fire truck, 74-year-old Robert Burke of Millboro, was in serious condition at Roanoke Memorial.
