The Virginia Department of
Transportation will close the right lane of Interstate 81 southbound Tuesday night
to repair a small sinkhole.
The two-foot-wide
sinkhole is located in a ditch along the right shoulder of the interstate near
mile marker 206, about one mile north of the Raphine/Steeles Tavern exit.
The right lane of I-81 will close at
7 p.m. Tuesday when repair work begins. Contractors will excavate and fill the
hole, and plan to finish early Wednesday morning.
All work is weather permitting.
