Fall Fire Season

The Virginia Department of Forestry reminds Virginians that fall fire season is in effect through the end of November.
With the increased threat of wildfires, forestry officials say citizens need to be especially careful of unattended campfires and when they burn debris or trash.
Virginia averages more than 1,200 wildfires each year that burn more than 10,000 acres.
95 percent of wildfires in Virginia are the result of human activity.
