Goodlatte, Hurt Vote Against Legislation

Congress passed legislation on Wednesday to avoid a national default and end the 16-day partial government shutdown.
Both the Senate and the House approved the legislation.
The vote was 285-144 in the Republican-controlled House.
6th District Congressman Bob Goodlatte and 5th District Congressman Robert Hurt voted against the measure. Goodlatte said the plan does not address the fiscal challenges facing the nation while Hurt said the measure failed to impose even the most modest spending reforms.
