Tax Rates in Bedford

Bedford City Council voted Thursday to advertise a real estate tax rate for the Town of Bedford of 30 cents per $100 of assessed value.
When the city reverts to town status next July, Bedford residents would pay Bedford County’s real estate tax rate of 50 cents along with the town’s tax rate of 30 cents, if eventually approved by council, meaning Bedford residents would pay 6 cents less than their current tax rate of 86 cents.
Bedford City Council will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget May 28 at 7 p.m.
