A portion of Route 220 in Alleghany
County is closed for emergency repairs to a drainage pipe under the road.
The affected area is about three
miles north of the Covington city limits. Route 220 will be closed between
Routes 684 and 640, and detours will direct drivers around the work zone.
Flooding over the past 24 hours
caused the pipe failure. The repairs are expected to take several days. All
work is weather permitting.
