Former Bedford County supervisor Tony Ware has been sentenced to a year in
jail after Ware pleaded no contest earlier this year to money laundering and
embezzlement.
Ware was sentenced for stealing funds from the Big Island Volunteer Fire
Department, a children's benefit fund, and his great aunt and her estate.
At first, Ware had been facing 25 counts but prosecutors dropped 13 of the charges,
in exchange for no-contest pleas.
