Crews are working to restore power after Thursday’s winter
storm.
Appalachian Power officials say by mid-morning,
approximately 108,000 customers in Virginia were without power, including
nearly 11,000 in the Roanoke area.
Many areas of western Virginia received 3 to 8 inches of
snow on Thursday. Officials with the National Weather Service say Giles County
got 13 inches and Grayson County received nearly a foot of snow.
VDOT workers continue to plow roads throughout the region,
including Interstate 77, where tractor trailer accidents this morning tied up north-bound
and south-bound traffic.
