New Poll on Guns

A new Quinnipiac University poll of Virginia voters finds there is strong support for armed police officers in schools and for conducting background checks on the purchase of firearms at gun shows.
The poll indicates support of 66 percent for an armed officer in every school. 60 percent believe gun purchases should be limited to one per month. The poll found that 92 percent of those responding favor background checks on people who buy guns at gun shows.
The poll also found that 50 percent of Virginians believe gun ownership protects people from crime while 41 percent believe owning a gun creates more risk. 49 percent also believe there should be stricter gun control laws.
