15 grants, totaling more than $440,000,
have been awarded by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries to
improve boating access to public waters.
Under the program, the Department of
Game and Inland Fisheries cost-shares with the local government to provide new
sites and improve existing ones. The grants will generate construction projects
estimated to be worth $839,000.
The approved grants include money
for non-powered canoe/kayak launches on the Jackson River at Clifton Forge and
Covington and on the James River at Glasgow.
