Governor Bob McDonnell on Monday unveiled
his proposed amendments to the 2012- 2014 budget to the General Assembly’s Money
Committees.
Governor McDonnell says the amendments
include more support for instructional spending on public education, including $58.8
million to fund the state portion of a two percent pay increase for teachers
and other instructional school personnel.
The amendments also redirect just
over $48 million of general fund sales tax revenue to transportation.
The budget amendments also include
nearly $17 million dollars for the Water Quality Improvement Fund. Another $200
million was set aside for water quality bond projects including $59 million for
combined sewer overflow projects in Richmond and Lynchburg.
