Law enforcement officials in Amherst County on Sunday conducted the biggest drug sweep on record in Amherst County, taking into custody approximately 70 suspects.
More arrests were expected after a special grand jury recently indicted 111 people of more than 240 offenses.
Officials with the Amherst County Sheriff’s Office say drug sales occurred within 1,000 feet of several schools, including Central Virginia Community College, Temple Christian School, Step by Step Early Learning Center, and Amherst Elementary School.
