Student Charged in Lynchburg

Police in Lynchburg on Thursday defused a chemical bomb that a student brought to Rivermont, a private school for special-needs children.

Lynchburg Police say the school and nearby homes and businesses were evacuated while the state police defused the explosive. Nobody was injured.

A 14-year-old student was taken into custody and is now facing several charges, including a felony count for possessing the explosive, and misdemeanor charges for threatening to damage a building and having a weapon on school property.
