Knights of Pythias Building

Lexington City Council is expressing concerns with VMI’s plans for demolishing the historic Knights of Pythias building on North Main Street, to clear the way for a new indoor training center.
The new indoor training center would be built at the southeast intersection of North Main and Diamond. Rather than preserve the Knights of Pythias building at another location, VMI plans to demolish the structure. VMI has also talked about creating a park that commemorates the history of the Diamond Hill neighborhood.
Residents of the Diamond Hill and Green Hill neighborhoods and historical preservationists voiced their displeasure with VMI’s plans at Lexington City Council’s latest meeting on Thursday. Council is calling on VMI to preserve the Knights of Pythias building.
