The Bedford County Board of Supervisors voted Monday to
instruct a redistricting committee that the board desires that the county maintain
seven election districts, even after the city of Bedford reverts to town
status and is absorbed by Bedford County.
A three-judge state panel is expected to make a final
decision on Bedford’s reversion plan during a meeting December 18 in the Bedford
County Circuit Court.
The Bedford County Board of Supervisors on Monday also
decided not to seek a special election to fill the District 2 seat of the recently
resigned Chuck Neudorfer. The board is planning to interview applicants for the
seat on November 5. The board may make an appointment by November 14.
