Derecho Cost in Lynchburg

Lynchburg City Council has been informed that the June 29 derecho cost the city over $5 million.
Estimates are Lynchburg may spend roughly $3.5 million for disposal of brush. By late August, city crews had collected approximately 35,000 tons of brush.
Lynchburg City Council on Tuesday also received recommendations for dealing with severe weather in the future. The recommendations include more generators for critical facilities, expanding the public communications system, and hiring another emergency management coordinator.
