The Pride and Peterson families were awarded $4 million. Normally, damages are capped at $100,000 dollars in civil cases of this nature but lawyers for the plaintiffs filed a motion to maintain the jury's full $4 million dollar award.
Virginia Tech spokesman Mark Owczarski said after the verdict
that the school would review the case with the attorney general's office before
deciding on any further appeal options.
