The Virginia State Police say an Alabama
man was killed Monday in a fatal tractor-trailer accident on Interstate 81 in Rockbridge County.
The crash involving two tractor-trailers claimed the life of 28-year-old Brian McEwen of Birmingham, Alabama.

Investigators say McEwen’s vehicle ran into the back of a stalled
tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes near mile marker 196.
Both tractor-trailers burst into flames. The other driver, 36-year-old Steve Wilson of Georgia, was not injured.

The accident occurred Monday around 6 p.m. All northbound
lanes reopened by 7:30 Tuesday morning.
The Virginia State Police continue to investigate Monday’s
accident.
