In the 22nd Senate District, Tom Garrett Jr. got 26% of the vote on Tuesday to win the GOP primary.
Brian Bates finished in second, right behind Garrett with 25%.
Garrett, the commonwealth’s attorney of Louisa County, now faces a November general election contest against Democrat Bert Dodson, a former vice mayor of Lynchburg.
