Watch out for Scams

The Lexington Police Department warns citizens to be on the lookout for scams.
Lexington Police officials say citizens have been receiving phone calls that they may have been approved for a loan for a new car, continuing education, etc. They say these calls are fraudulent and merely a ruse in order to obtain personal information, such as full name, date of birth, Social Security numbers and other sensitive information. Once they have obtained this information they can use it in countless ways to steal your identity.
If you feel that you have been fallen victim to this type of crime, please file a complaint with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) website, www.IC3.gov or the Richmond field office at (804)-261-1044.
