Parry McCluer High School is getting ready to induct
its first Hall of Fame class.
The initial Hall of Fame class includes several inductees,
such as Melvin Chaplin from the class of
1951, Billy Huffman from the class of 1956, former Parry McCluer head football
coach Bobby Williams, Johnnie Snider from the class of 1959, Wendell Coleman
from the class of 1962, John Dyer of the class of 1976, and former major league
baseball player and manager Charlie Manuel from the class of 1963.
Hall of
Fame activities begin Friday October 25 at 9 a.m. with a captains choice golf
tournament at Vista Links.
The inductees will be introduced that
night at halftime of the Parry McCluer-Covington football game at Parry
McCluer High School.
On Saturday, October 26, there will
be a banquet at 6 p.m. at which time the inductees will be formally introduced.
Their permanent plaques will be unveiled and they’ll be presented with an
individual plaque.
