The federal government shutdown is
striking home in Virginia.
Although the Blue Ridge Parkway remains open to travelers, the Peaks of
Otter Lodge is closing, due to the government shutdown. Most of the lodge’s 72 employees were gone by noon on Tuesday.
Lodge officials say they plan to alert future guests who have reservations, as the shutdown continues. Guests whose stays have to be cancelled will receive refunds.
