Lynchburg City Council on Tuesday approved the city’s fiscal 2014 budget on first reading.
The budget contains no new tax increases. It gives city employees their first pay raise in five years.
Council may give final approval to the budget, on second reading, on May 28.
Meanwhile, council-members on Tuesday also reviewed
design plans for a new Heritage High School. Council voted in favor of a
capital improvements plan that includes funding for the new school next year.
The project has an estimated price tag of $83.3 million.
