Bridge work on Candler’s Mountain
Road in Lynchburg is coming to an end and motorists will encounter several
changes in the coming weeks. Both westbound lanes of the bridge and the left
turn lane into River Ridge Mall should be open to traffic by Friday, May 17.
The westbound lanes of Candler’s
Mountain Road, including the ramps from Route 460/501 and Liberty University
and a portion of Mayflower Drive and the Mayflower Drive intersection will be
closed during the following timeframes:
- 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 19 to 5:30 a.m., Monday May 20
- 9:00 p.m., Monday, May 20 to 5:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 21
- 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21 to 5:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 22
- 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 22 to 5:30 a.m., Thursday, May 23
- 9:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23 to 5:30 a.m., Friday, May 24
Crews will be doing milling and
paving along a portion of Mayflower Drive, the Mayflower/Candler’s Mountain
Road intersection, and across the bridge. Signs and other traffic control
devices will be in place to alert motorists to these operations. Alternate
routes are available.
