VMI plans to sponsor several events in
May to mark the 150th anniversary of the last days of Confederate Civil War
hero Stonewall Jackson who was a VMI faculty member.
A special exhibit on Jackson will
open in the VMI Museum on Wednesday, May 1, and run through September. The
exhibit will feature rarely seen
items from the collections of the Stonewall Jackson House and VMI Museum that
are related to Jackson’s death.
National Park Service historian
Frank O’Reilly will also present a lecture on Jackson’s final hours on Sunday,
May 19, at 3:15 p.m. in Jackson Memorial Hall.
