Freezing rain on Monday resulted in the cancellation of classes for students in the Rockbridge County school system as well as Botetourt, Alleghany, Nelson, Bath, Craig and Amherst County. Lexington and Buena Vista went with a two hour delay for their school divisions.
Meanwhile, officials with the National Weather Service say you can expect showers and isolated thunderstorms on Wednesday. Some thunderstorms could produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall.
The National Weather Service says some areas could see strong straight line winds on Wednesday that could result in downed trees and power outages. Another threat could be the flooding of creeks, streams and rivers, due to the heavy rainfall and runoff.
