Giles County schools will be closed today after a
website mentioned Narrows schools in a discussion about the Sandy Hook
Elementary shootings in Connecticut.
Giles County law enforcement officials say while no threat has been made against a Giles County school, the Virginia State Police got a tip about an article on a website that pointed out that Sandy Hook was referenced on a map in a scene from the Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises." Also on the map in the movie was Narrows.
Today will be a teacher work day in Giles County. Teachers and administrators will be briefed about the website and article. Students return to classes on Thursday.
