Some Bedford County residents have
started an online petition to make Route 24 in Bedford County a safer road,
after the recent deaths of three Staunton River High School students in the
past few weeks.
The online petition calls for a
number of safety improvements, including widening the road, lowering the speed limit to 45 miles per
hour, extending hunting season to control deer, and providing deer caution signs
and guardrails.
