Republican Congressman Bob Goodlatte will serve as the new chairman of the House Judiciary Committee starting in January.
Goodlatte was elected to the chairmanship by the Republican Conference in the House on Wednesday.
Goodlatte says the committee will be at the forefront of a number of important issues in 2013, including civil liberties and immigration.
