Virginia’s annual Energy Star and
WaterSense products sales tax holiday will be taking place this weekend,
Friday, October 5 through Monday, October 8.
During the sales tax holiday, consumers
can purchase a variety of “green” products and avoid the 5 percent state and
local sales tax.
The products must cost $2,500 or
less each and be purchased for noncommercial or personal use. The Energy Star
products include items like air conditioners, refrigerators, dishwashers,
ceiling fans, and washing machines. WaterSense-labeled bathroom sink faucets,
toilets, showerheads, and landscape irrigation controllers will also be tax-exempt.
