Preparing for Sandy

Area citizens are being urged to be ready for the effects of Hurricane Sandy over the next few days, including plenty of rain and gusty winds.
Officials with the National Weather Service say winds are expected to peak at 25 to 35 miles per hour on Tuesday, with gusts up to 45 miles per hour possible.
Robert Foresman, Rockbridge County’s emergency management coordinator, says citizens need to have a preparedness kit which will allow them to survive for 72 hours without assistance.
In case there are widespread power outages, Virginians should call the Virginia 211 emergency information telephone service.
