Washington and Lee’s Mock Republican Convention got underway on Thursday with a debate between political pundits James Carville and Ann Coulter and a speech by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.
The convention parade will be held Friday morning at 10 o’clock in downtown Lexington. Some of the speakers on Friday at the Warner Center include Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, former presidential candidates Herman Cain and Jon Huntsman and also former Rep. J.C. Watts.
Saturday’s speakers include Rep. Bob Goodlatte, former Gov. George Allen and former Sen. Fred Thompson. The keynote address will be delivered by former Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour.
Following Barbour’s talk, the students at Washington and Lee will begin the roll call of states, to predict the Republican presidential nominee for November.
