Traffic will be detoured off Interstate 81 between Timber Ridge and Fairfield over the next few weeks while the old Va. 712, Decatur Road, bridge spanning the interstate is demolished. The new Decatur Road bridge, now complete, was constructed just north of the old one.
In the first series of detours, to be held Tuesday night, July 5, through Thursday night, July 7, from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., all southbound traffic will leave I-81 at Exit 200 in Fairfield, divert east on Va. 710, Sterrett Road, go south on U.S. 11 and reenter I-81 at Exit 195 at Timber Ridge.
In the second series of detours, to be held Monday night, July 11, through Wednesday night, July 13, also from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m., all northbound traffic will leave I-81 at Exit 195, head north on U.S. 11 and reenter I-81 via Sterrett Road and Exit 200.
