Tuesday's Election Results

Voters on Tuesday elected a new Virginia governor, as Democrat Terry McAuliffe edged Republican Ken Cuccinelli by approximately 56,000 votes.
Democrat Ralph Northam defeated Republican E. W. Jackson to win the race for Lieutenant Governor by a margin of roughly 55-45 percent.
In the Attorney General’s race, the latest count from the state Board of Elections had Republican Mark Obenshain ahead of Democrat Mark Herring by approximately 219 votes. The race appears headed for a recount. In Virginia elections, if the margin of victory is less than 1 percent, the candidate that appears to have lost may request a recount within 10 days of the State Board of Elections certifying the result.
Elsewhere on Tuesday, Republican Delegate Scott Garrett in Lynchburg was easily re-elected as Garrett defeated Libertarian Jonathan Parrish 75-22 percent.
In Rockbridge County, Rusty Ford won the race for the Board of Supervisors seat from Kerrs Creek while Buster Lewis was re-elected as supervisor from Walkers Creek. Kevin Brooks and Laurie Strong won seats on the Rockbridge County School Board.
In Glasgow, Ruby Clark won the mayor’s race while Jeremy Kilgore, Andrea Bradley and John Hill won seats on Glasgow Town Council.
John Marks was the winner of the race in Amherst County for the District 5 seat on the Board of Supervisors.
In Campbell County, J. D. Puckett, Eric Zehr and Mike Rousseau all won seats on the Board of Supervisors while Scott Miller won a seat on the Campbell County School Board.
Lynchburg Sheriff Ron Gillispie was also re-elected on Tuesday, receiving 78 percent of the vote in defeating Kevin Chapman.
