PETA has sent a letter to the Virginia
Department of Game and Inland Fisheries urging the agency not to renew the
Natural Bridge Zoo's permit to exhibit wild animals.
PETA claims the Natural Bridge Zoo has
racked up nearly 50 violations of
the federal Animal Welfare Act in the last decade.
PETA also claims that bears at the
zoo are kept on a concrete slab surrounded by a chain-link fence in a virtually
barren enclosure, which PETA claims denies the bears clean drinking water.
