Applications for
this year’s Rockbridge Area Christmas Basket Program are due
December 4.
The program, in its
65th year, provides food and toys to needy families at Christmas.
Last year, the
program served 1050 families, as area residents received 1700 boxes of food and
515 bags of toys.
Applications for
the program are being accepted by the Rockbridge Area Relief Association Food
Pantry, the Department of Social Services, and the Rockbridge Area Health
Center.
Families who
received a basket last year, and who do not need to change any of their
information, do not need to complete an application. Only families applying for
the first time or making changes, such as a new address, need to fill out an
application. December 4 is the deadline for applications.
The program’s annual organizational meeting will be held Monday, December 2 at 7:00
p.m., at the Lexington Presbyterian Church.
Baskets will be
packed Saturday, December 21, 8 a.m. until noon, at the Anderson Arena of the
Virginia Horse Center.
Financial contributions
to support the program can be sent to: P.O. Box 1030, Lexington, VA 24450.
